My name is Martin Hensher.

I’m the Henry Baldwin Professorial Research Fellow in Health Systems Sustainability at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research, University of Tasmania. You can find my academic work here:

The site you are visiting here is for non-academic posts on my professional obsessions: how can we safeguard population health and healthcare systems at a time in which things are manifestly spiralling out of control? I bring together insights from health economics, ecological economics, post-Keynesian economics, along with post-growth, adaptation and resilience theory to examine unpleasant questions with answers that tend to make people uncomfortable.

You will also find the occasional piece of fiction, overtly religious and/or political viewpoints, and/or general stream of consciousness ranting.  Get over it. Consistency is over-rated.
